Context & Business Need: At the start of the school year, K-12 teachers across the district needed a streamlined method to distribute digital assignments. I designed this presentation to serve as a technical guide, ensuring all educators—regardless of their prior experience with Canva—could successfully transition from content creation to student delivery.
Audience & Constraints: The audience included a diverse group of district-wide K-12 teachers with varying levels of technical proficiency. The primary constraint was the need for a "quick-start" resource that could be used during high-pressure back-to-school professional development sessions to address immediate classroom needs.
Your Role & Contribution: I served as the Instructional Designer and Technical Writer, performing a task analysis of the Canva for Education "Assign" features. I translated complex software capabilities into two distinct, user-friendly pathways: immediate link-sharing and long-term classroom management.
Process Artifacts:
Technical Presentation: A structured slide deck featuring clear headers and step-by-step navigation cues.
Workflow Analysis: Identification of the most efficient sharing methods, including "Assign via Link," "Assign Code," and "Create a Class".
Visual Guides: Integration of direct instructions and interface highlights to mirror the actual user dashboard.
Tools Used:
Canva for Education: The platform used for both the content creation and the subject of the tutorial.
PDF Documentation: For easy, district-wide distribution as a reference guide.
Results & Impact: The presentation provided teachers with immediate autonomy over their digital classroom setup. By offering multiple ways to share documents, it accommodated different learning management systems used throughout the district, ensuring every student could access their assignments on day one.
Reflections & Iterations: Recognizing the fast-paced nature of the beginning of the school year, I prioritized scannability. To improve future versions, I would include a QR code on the final slide to a live "Help Desk" or a feedback form to collect real-time data on which sharing method teachers preferred most.
