Context & Business Need: Recognizing a district-wide need for equitable STEM access, I developed "InspiHER: Code Like a Girl" as a comprehensive community resource rather than just a standalone course. The objective was to create a scalable instructional ecosystem that serves as a bridge between the classroom and the home, ensuring that every member of the county—from administrators to families—has the tools to support digital literacy.
A Multi-Stakeholder Support Model: I designed specific pathways within the platform to address the unique needs of each stakeholder group:
Students: A high-engagement, gamified learning path that builds foundational skills in AI, Python, and robotics.
Teachers: A library of "plug-and-play" lesson plans, instructional infographics, and automated rubrics that reduce prep time and standardize high-quality instruction across the county.
Organizational Leadership: A centralized framework that allows for easy monitoring of STEM initiatives and provides data-backed resources to showcase school-wide progress.
Parents: Accessible "Home-to-School" guides and visual explainers that demystify coding concepts, allowing parents to actively participate in their child's learning journey regardless of their own technical background.
Your Role & Contribution: As the Lead Instructional Architect, I was responsible for the end-to-end development of this initiative. I authored the core curriculum, designed all visual assets (including custom infographics), and managed the technical integration of diverse LTI tools within Canvas to ensure a seamless experience for thousands of users across the county.
Process Artifacts:
Stakeholder-Specific Navigation: Intuitive Canvas architecture that directs different users to relevant resources.
Custom Infographic Suite: A series of visual aids designed to explain complex STEM theories to a multi-generational audience.
Comprehensive Resource Toolkit: Includes lesson plans, printable activities for the home, and technical guides for educators.
Tools Used:
Canvas LMS: The hub for district-wide distribution and stakeholder management.
LTI Integrations: Leveraging tools like Lucid, Book Creator, and Canva to provide professional-grade creative capabilities to all county members.
Design Tools: Used to create a unified "InspiHER" brand identity that resonates with students and community members alike.
Results & Impact: This initiative successfully democratized STEM education across the county. By providing tailored support for principals and parents alongside traditional teacher-student resources, the program saw increased community engagement and a measurable rise in student confidence in computer science. It now serves as the blueprint for county-wide digital rollouts.
